Her story

A dream of the West Coast

Dr. Browne graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1985. She spent the first half of her career in southwestern Ontario as a small animal practice owner and an emergency hospital locum veterinarian.

The pull of the western provinces never went away. In 2009, after selling her practice, she packed her bags and her soulmate dog Lilly into her SUV and drove across the country to settle in British Columbia. For the next 13 or so years she worked as a locum at small animal hospitals across the province.

Why house calls

Not wanting to fully retire from veterinary medicine, Dr. Browne stepped back from the hustle of hospital work to focus her experience where it does the most good: wellness exams, vaccines, medical care for stable patients, and quality of life decisions for the cats and dogs we love.

Best Friends is her own local, independently owned practice, so you see the same vet at every visit. A house call practice lets her build a comfortable relationship with you and your pet, in the least stressful place there is: your own home.

Away from work

When she isn't caring for patients, you'll find her with friends, in the garden, or exploring the trails and swimming holes around Victoria, trailing after her own very energetic young dog.
